There are a very large number of Government professions available for the players to choose from.  These professions will help determine what characteristics and skills your character will have. 

If a character wants to change professions after a single term (4 years), they can do so.  Changes within a common group of professions are allowed without prior approval from the GM.  Examples of professional groups are:  Government and Bureaucracies, Law Enforcement, Navy, Army, or Scout Services.  Changes between groups, for instance a Bureaucrat to an Intelligence Operative or Marine, must be pre-approved by the GM.  The character must stay in the newly selected profession for two terms (8 years) before any changes can be made.

Leaving a Governmental Profession for a Civilian Professions can be done at the end of any term of service.  When the character starts their new profession, they are only required to serve one term (4 years).

  • Bureaucrat - Low level officials who do day-to-day work
  • Courtier - Very little personal power but a great deal of influence over those in power
  • Diplomat - Represent one government

Law Enforcement

  • Local Police Officer - Local to a settlement, city, country and potential a space station
  • (Single) Planetary Police Officer - Jurisdiction to fight crime across the planet they come from
  • (Government/Multi-Planet) Police Officer - Enforce the laws across multiple planets within a single government system.

Intelligence

  • Field Agent - Field agents handle recruiting information, obtaining information from undercover agents and informants and handle various undercover ops.
  • Analyst - Analyze information gathered by field agents and operatives
  • Operative - Undercover agents who gather information often at great personal risk

Navy

Has six branches of service: Flight, Engineering, Medical, Gunnery, Technical and Command

  • Basics - Any serving in the Navy has this template
  • Command - Officer training
  • Flight School - Pilots who operate star ships, small craft and fighter craft use this template. They are also officers so they must have the Command template as well
  • Engineering - Keeps the ships running in good order. May or may not be an officer
  • Technical - Specializing in science and sensor operations. All members of technical are officers.
  • Gunnery - Specializes if the handling, firing and maintaining of fighter and capital line ships. Generally not officers.

Marines

  • Marine - All marines, enlisted and officers take this package
  • Special Force Recon - Marine special forces are used for scouting and intelligence gathering
  • Ships Troops - Marines who are assigned a specific ship to provide security for the ship
  • Marine Officer - Special officer training for marines

Available for all branches (Navy, Marines, Army)

Special Forces package deal is part of the Army Package zip file. Commando School is part of the Marines Package zip file. Other package deals will be created if needed.
  • Special Forces - Any member in military service may participate in one of these special branches
  • Commando School - Commando basic training
  • Protected Forces Training - Operate in hostile physical environments, such as vacuum, zero-G, etc.
  • Military Intelligence School - Basics of military intelligence
  • Command College - Basics of command. Required of all officers
  • Staff College - Only required of officers with a rank higher than Lieutenant Colonel (Army) and Commander (Navy).

Army

  • Basic - All members of the army start with this package
  • Army Air Corp - Provides air and suborbital support for planetary army forces, which includes transports of troops and supplies, air cover for ground fights, and suborbital defense systems.
  • Armor Cavalry - Trained to use heavy combat vehicles such as tanks, APC, hovercraft, etc.
  • Artillery - Handle both artillery guns and missiles for Surface to Surface attacks
  • Infantry - Ground pounders
  • Medical - Range in training from a line corpsmen, nurse or doctor depending on the level of training. Nurses and Doctors are officers
  • Special Forces - Highly trained in reconnaissance, strategic targeting, infiltration and rescue, counter terrorism and counterinsurgency
  • Officer - All officers will have this package
NOTE: Artillery, Medical and Officer packages will be created if they are needed.  Anyone in the Army always starts out with Infantry as their starting career point.

Scout Service

Non-Military missions, including exploration, mapping and surveying, maintaining jump gates and hyperspace navigation systems

  • Scout Service - Basic training
  • Survey School - For survey training
  • Contact School - First contact specialist
  • Hyperspace/Jump gate School - Extremely technical school
NOTE:  The Scout Service Package file is the basic scout service package that everyone who is a scout must take.
